Parents Council AGM 17th October 2011

Minutes

Financial Report - Gráinne O'Connor (outgoing Treasurer)
Gráinne reported on the current balance and outlined income and expenditure in the last 12 months. She emphasised the need for fundraising as neither current resources nor traditional income e.g. raffles could be relied upon to generate sufficient income to cover required expenditure.

Finance Update - The Principal
The Principal updated on DES funding. The Minor Works Grant has been cut completely for the new school year. Therefore, without this income there will be a greater need for Parents' Council fundraising.

The Principal also expressed concerns about future Budget impacts and the potential impact on the pupil/teacher ratio.

There is a day of action planned for primary schools at the end of November/early December.

School Photographs
School photographs will be taken on Tuesday 15th November and the Principal will update at the next Parents Council meeting.

Fundraising ideas
Suggestions for potential fundraising ideas were considered for 2012.

A Fundraising dance is to be scoped to see whether it is viable or not. A Sub-committee is to be set up to evaluate and feedback to a future meeting. Volunteers required - please contact Ann Bostock.

Election of Officers
The election of officers took place resulting in the appointments of officers as listed above.
