Especially
for new pupils:
- Please
label everything. Can your child take off/put on their own jumper, coat and
shoes?
- There
is a healthy eating policy (click here)
in our school, so lunches and snacks should be healthy. No cartons, only bottles,
break fruit into small pieces, give small yogurts, ensure they can open/close
drinks.
- Encourage
independence, hygiene and neatness in all toilet related matters.
- Have
a school bag with 2 straps to hang on the back of the chair at school, that's
easy to open and close. Practise opening and closing the school bag and pencil
case, putting things in and out. Parents should check every night that the
child has all their belongings
- Turn
taking and sharing is very important in school.
- Read
nursery rhymes and books. Do short focussed activities at home, such as colouring,
tracing, matching, sorting.
- The social
aspects of school are extremely important, so help develop your child's management
of new skills through play.
- New Junior
Infants will not be given homework until later in the year.
