What are the opening and closing times of the school?

The school opens at 8.50am for reception of pupils. Pupils will not be admitted to the school premises before this time. The school day begins at 9.15am for all pupils. Junior and Senior Infant pupils are finished at 2pm, all other pupils at 3pm.

What is the school uniform?

The school uniform consists of a grey trousers/skirt, blue shirt, navy tie and navy jumper. The school crest for the jumper is available to buy from the school secretary. The school tracksuit can be worn on Fridays. This is available to order from the school in June of each year. School uniform must be worn daily.

What is the religious ethos of the school?

Scoil Réalt na Mara Ballycotton is a mixed primary school under the patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Cloyne.

How many teachers are in the school?

At present there are four class teachers in the school. The school also has a Resource Teacher and a Learning Support Teacher..

What is the procedure if a child is absent from school?

Parents shall write a brief signed note in the appropriate section of the Pupil Homework Diary to explain all absences. Prior notice of any planned absences should be given. When a pupil is absent due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances, a parent should inform the school as soon as possible and note the absence in the Homework Diary. Please note: The school is obliged to inform the NEWB (National Education and Welfare Board) of any pupil who has had 20 or more absences for any reason recorded during any one school year.
